  1. after reading the manual again and this time the one in the box and not online it appears normal to flash and beep as it is saying if tracking or not. if I turn off either the beeper or the lights then the direction buttons stop responding. is this normal with your mounts too please?
  2. I went to try and see if the EQ setting was supported tonight. So fitted brand new batteries. Turned it on for the firs time. All the lights are flashing and it is periodically beeping. IS this normal? I then tried to set my latitude it made no difference the lights still keep flashing and I hear it beeping. Update: if I turn it on I can move it using the direction buttons. But as soon as press either 1a or 2b and turn off the backlight and beeper the slew buttons no longer respond. Any thoughts please? I can't find anything that says how to reset it to clear what ever might be going on.
  3. My bluetooth adaptor arrived today :-) best I sort out power for my mount now. (and root and rebuild my Android tablet)
  4. The manual in my Virtuoso box does not mention EQ mode, so I could assume that means it has a later firmware. Might still try to set it using the other manual as reference.
  5. The earlier versions had eq mode from reading, there is eq mode on the android app I will be using so this will override whether or not the mount has it supported with button presses or not I think.
  6. The mount does not compensate for earth's rotation so long exposures are out. No one has shared any long exposure trials on a wedge base to know if the tracking is good enough and without drift.
  7. ooo the adaptor has reached Britain, that was very quick from Brazil so maybe it might come in the next day or two and my virtuoso mount arrived yesterday
  8. Sorted, juat ordered the bluetooth one have been in email contact. Just need to weigh my OTA to check how much within weight it is. Oh and fix my Nexus tablet which needs a big sort, a root and custom ROM as I got that dreaded error after 2.5 years of use that a complete factory reset has not fixed.
  9. Have you all gone for the bluetooth adaptor please? I am undecided between the bluetooth or the cable.
  10. More detail please, what did you use, what exposure length, what camera. I like the first one particularly.
  11. Somebody has already built a wedge for their one. No updated posts I could find on performance though. http://stargazerslounge.com/topic/192325-synscan-az-goto-and-a-wedge/?fromsearch=1
  12. No but it is better than no wedge. I used an old school protractor to mark the angle and a good clean sharp saw. I had a lip in the design so it would be easy to put a top board on and not have the virtuoso mount slip off. Two adjustable feet at the front, one at the rear. There is a backboard as well (out of sight) and the whole unit is very strong and stable. It was an old kitchen cupboard shelf or something similar, all raw edges got 3 coats of pva glue as it is only chipboard. Should add following another comment below I have no idea how the virtuoso motors will behave or wear if the mount is used at an angle.
  13. It is easy to make a wedge, I made one for my barn door mount as no tripod here, from bits of chipboard lying around. I didn't bother making an adjustable one as it won't be needed. 5 bits of wood and various fixings. Free already had them 3 leveling feet. £4 1 caravan spirit level. £2
  14. That looks neat, look forward to your report on it when it arrives.
  15. If you know how long the exposure of a sub was and how many pixels long the captured line was can you work or how fast it was going?
  16. I captured a very bright moving object a week ago going west to south that was not a plane and was very bright.
