Any news on this FF/ fr ? Just waiting to see which one to go for.
Not too promising so far, tried 68.5 mm and 70.5 mm without success, trying 69 mm next clear night ( March ?)

looking good, hope the stars are ok, if so i will get the WO ts/r.
One thing with this set up ... It's impossible to get the reducer /flattener to stay Square in the holder when tightening, I'm trying the lynx astro upgrade with compression ring to see if it's any better.
-
Hopefully I'll be able to check star shapes tonight ...
-
Okey dokey, just got in from social duties, scope arrived safely from @FLO swiftly stuck the William Optics ZS71 flattener in the scope to see if I had enough focus range ...
Well a picture paints a thousand words so here's one showing the flattener in position and the same again but exposed to show the 'very rough handheld Moon shot ' on the monitor.
No time or chance to check star shapes but hopefully tomorrow if clear.

Have tried just now on a visible moon and no joy, cannot get draw tube retracted enough to achieve focus. Is nearly there, but not quite.
Have emailed FLO with update, so now onwards to find a solution...
I have 2 Nikon T adaptors and they are 0.5mm different in thickness ... not much but there are differences. Not sure when or where I got them though, had them years.
I'll be playing the spacing game tonight if scope arrives today !

Well, I'm joining club, just ordered a 72ED from FLO ...
I have a William Optics flat 6a, I'll give it a whirl.
-
Seriously thinking of joining this club ! Going to try one on my SAM, WO ZS71 too heavy, WO ZS66 Petzval poor star shapes ... 72ED looks very interesting

I also had to discard the SW reducer as I was not able to focus, due to the reducer thickness, then I went for the TS 0x79 using 65mm distance and it focus perfectly with both the IDAS and the Halpha filters.
The TS has a 2'' barrel and M48 thread for filter on the tube side so it fit better. I made the measurements in another comment in this same thread.
Is it me or is the TS flattener incredibly similar to the WO flat 6

I bought the wo with the intention of doing some widefield astrophotography but never quite worked out the camera connection with the threaded sct style rear end of the scope, so I just ended up using it on a photography tripod with a revelation Astro diagonal to look at the heavens, then it got mothballed.
I ended up buying a ts65quad last year for widefield to use on my Astrotrack. It was my first time buying a new scope, and although I had to save up, it was worth it.
They have mixed reviews but I think it’s a cracking little scope.
I saw one on ukabs recently.
There is always another scope wanted or needed!!
Let me know when you sell the TS quad ?

Cheers Bryan, I was quite impressed with 30 seconds @ 400 mm with just a really quick polar align, trouble is now I've seen the SAM working with this scope I'm already planning a way of funding a ZS61 or similar ?
-
Quick smash and grab between the clouds , just bought a beautiful ZS66 semi app petzval from @assouptro very quick PA, balances nicely with Nikon D5600, managed 10 X 30 second subs ISO 800- no lights / darks stacked best 6 in DSS and curves etc in PS6.
It really is a lovely looking scope but doesn't like bright stars or edges of feild ?.
None of which is Bryan's fault ! Blame William Optics for that.
Approx 2/3 crop to hide the edges .

Just pulled the trigger on one of these. Determined to get some shots of 46p, especially after the 21p debarcle...
Details to follow. If my calculations are right should get at least 45mins unguided at 1200mm. Or something ??
Is that 45 X 60 second subs or 1 X 45 minute sub ? hope your LP isn't too bad !
But seriously, mount looks good.

@Ken Mitchell Wow ! stunning ...

An essential read if you're into 'Dob modding'
-
but it did with the other lens ? strange, where you definitely on the manual focus mode (by the lens release switch)
-
The front ring near the lens cap is the manual focus ring ...
what exactly was the problem with the intervalometer ? did it not work at all or where the pics out of focus ?
-
Are you talking about the lens being auto focus ? Surely you can set it to manual focus somehow ?
Doesn't the D90 have a focus mode switch below the lens release button.
-
Hi Leon - fellow Nikon user here, it's strange that you can't get the intervalometer to work (D90 Nikon?)
Have a skim through this...

Don't forget a programmable intervalometer (unless you mean Star adventurer mini as has phone app for this + cable to camera)

Inspired by Lars and the persistent rain I've taken both washers out and put them on one side so it's metal to metal on the tensioner side.
Definitely better, tighten then adjust then really tighten and fine tweak. Feels pretty solid.

Not sure the WO is in stock anywhere ... It's for the discontinued ZS71
I could post you mine and when you've worked out spacing you can send it back ?
