  1. I currently have a ZWO ASI462MC camera but have been offered an Altair Astro 224c usb 3 for a bargain price. I know that the 224 has 3.75um compared to the ZWOs 2.9um which, if I'm not mistaken, makes it slightly more sensitive but the ZWO has a slightly larger sensor. Other than that they seem pretty even. Just wonders if anyone had any thoughts?
  2. Only half an hour before the clouds rolled in and last 1000 frames were through the beginning of the cloud but! I'm beginning to crack my focusing problem!
  3. Managed half an hour before it completely clouded over, first time in over 2 weeks. Not a great deal captured but I'm beginning to crack my focusing problem!
  4. Congrats! That's fantastic piece of kit, enjoy it.
  5. What a haul! Sounds like you got some good items along with a cracking scope. Would be very interested to hear hiw you and your son get on with it. Oh, and welcome!
  6. To be fair, there will be another birthday next year (hopefully!) and 50 is no more special than 51. Clear mights, however, are few and far between. If family are any good, they will understand. As an aside, my family never did, which is why I gave up talking to them over 20 years ago!
  7. Fine bit of kit from Portugal to allow motor control of the Mak focuser. Incredibly sturdy, good price and only took 5 days from initial enquiry until receipt!
  8. So it has arrived and is a great bit of kit. Can't wait to try it out now!
  9. Another stunning image! Thanks for sharing. So much detail, I can't stop looking.
  10. One of these ac to cigarette 12v adapter thingies, so that I can run my Hitecasteo motor focuser controller without needing a power tank.
  11. Mars was bouncing all over the place last night. That's a great capture in trying circumstances! Well done.
  12. Took some images with an ASI462MC last night, using Sharpcap. I ran then through PIPP and then stacked them in AS!3. Resulting image was completely black. Tried Registax, same thing. Wondered if they didn't like PIPPing, so ran the original AVis through both, with the same results. Luckily, using ASI software instead, I got the results I was after. Anyone come across this before? Is there a solution? I'm not too bothered because actually like the ASI software, but just curious.
  13. But if a moon fest last night. 27 panes, each of 1000 frames, stacked in ASI, Limited to 500 panes, slight tweek on sharpness and noise. Only after I finished, I realised I hadn't used my IR/Cut filter, but still very happy. ASI462MC through a 127mak.
  14. Streets ahead of my first attempt (and 2nd, 3rd, 4th.....!) Great images, thanks for sharing.
  15. Thanks for all your assistance. I've got ICE back now, so can start to put together moon mosaics again.
  16. Now that I have been show how to get ICE back, here's a little stitch of last nights images using my new (to me) ZWO ASI462MC
  17. Oooh, thanks! I'll try that on the PC tomorrow.
  18. I've been out of imaging for a while so, when I went to download ICE, I was surprised to find its gone! What do people use instead for panorama stitching please? Thanks.
  19. First time out with my new (to me) Zwo ASI462MC. Managed about half an hour before the louds rolled in. Random moon images just to test out. 500 frames of each, with best 250 stacked. Must say, I'm very impressed and 500 frames taking a little over 10 seconds to capture is mind blowing!
  20. A little bit battered, but this my favourite of all my astronomy books. Antonín Rükl knew his stuff.
  21. After the excitement of yesterday's M7 bolts, a bit clamer today with this... Who am I kidding? This is like birthdays and Halloween rolled into one!
