I can remember the 8 then later the 10 and the 12 but not a 6

I bought a 150mm f5 refractor off FLO years ago that had a small chip in its objective lens, as far as I can tell the chip has zero effect on the views the scope gives. Steve from FLO kindly sold the scope off very cheaply because of the damage and I've always felt I got a bit of a bargain

Assuming things such as that the tube is cut to the correct length to achieve focus etc. then I think you've got a real bargain. I seem to remember those lens cells aren't cheap. One of reasons they didn't catch on much as upgrades was that there wasn't much/ any saving in just buying a new ED80 instead of upgrading the lens cell in your achro

I might be well off the mark here but are there any signs that the scope maybe made of parts from different instruments?

That's the photo that puts me off getting one, John. I've got a 120 and it's *just" the right side of grab and go for me.

I'm on my second Skywatcher 150mm f5 refractor. Sold the first but got offered second with a slight optical flaw (small chip on edge of lens) for a price i just couldn't resist.

I'm purely visual. My one scope with enough aperture but not too big to put me off setting it up would be a 12 inch GOTO Dob I have less time to observe than I used to so tend to use refractors a lot but I'm always conscious of what I'm missing over a decent sized Dob

I have one of these for quick looks. They are slightly heavy for what they are but still mount easily on a decent camera tripod, I've moved mine to an EQ3/2 as I missed the tracking. It's pretty much colour free to my eyes and gives great views allowing for the aperture, it's a bit of a fingerprint magnet though if that sort of thing bothers you Shame the range got discontinued, they were a great option for buyers after doublets with a bit of extra build quality and bells and whistles
