Well a couple of iself important diots who just don’t get the new series. 🙄
Some seem offended that it isn’t the same old thing but the vast majority love it as I do. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
This descibes tha makers of that review pretty well. 😁

Voyager was my favourite series. 👍🏻
Tried watching the original Star Trek recently but didn’t like it. Just so dated. Loved it when it first came out though.

At least we will have a proper answer to the tube weight question. If it weighs much less than 4.5kg I will be surprised.

The LifeP04 batteries are the ones to go for. Nott just better suited to powering a mount due to their discharge characteristics but much safer.

Just checked the UK importers website and it gives the Astro Fi tube weight as 4.5kg. Perhaps ask your supplier to confirm the weight.
-
Think the OTAs are the same. The Astro Fi is the scope with the cheaper mount. the Nexstar C6 is more expensive because of the mount.

A 5x barlow will be a waste of time. You can only increase magnification so far before everything is just a fuzzy blur. A 2x barlow will be a lot more use.
Have a read of this thread.

It’s very stable which you would expect of a stand dsigned for the purpose. LED TVs are quite light and this TV weighs less than 10kg and the stand is rated to hold a 50kg TV..

Dobs are as mentioned above simply the best buy as you get the most scope for the money.
If you want an Alt Az mounted scope you will have to pay more for something decent and usable. .

Might be worth checking RVOs second hand section.

Does sound like an honest mistake. If he’d never seen a 290 before he wouldn’t know that it had been fiddled with.
Did you check with RVO to see if it was in stock? It was in stock on Tuesday.

Glad you got it sorted. Found when I had my Skytee those grub screws rounded out so easily. Made from very soft metal.
Will have to get an extractor set myself one day. 🤔

Just ignore the speck of dust. It won’t affect performance at all.

It’s a spacer ring used when fitting an eyepiece to the scope instead of a camera. Part way through this vid shows it being used.

One of these sets will do the job or if you can find a left hand drill bit should be cheaper.

Edot:
Was just gping to mention using a torx bit but someone beat me too it. 🙂

There is a thread on this subject.

Rother Valley Optics has the 290m mini in stock.
Just contact them and check before ordering.

FLO is put of stock at the moment.

Yes the glass is glued into the underside of the black ring. Seems a strange mod to make. 🤔

Nope. Just don’t think much of their “review”.
