Did find this focuser from TS that has an optional base that fits down to a 160mm dia. tube same as the 130 tube. Some interesting options as well.
-
Just checked and the custom bases are sold byTelescope Express.
-
FeatherTouch does focuser bases to order for any newt but over 100 quid for the base.. 😬
Then there is the cost of the focuser. 🙁
-
I am surprised that Moonlite hasn’t moved on from the plain anodised finish on the drawtube. Baader now uses a diamond coated bearing surface on the drawtube that is very hard wearing. Rack & pinion is becoming common even on lower cost focusers.
Favourite is rhe FeatherTouch R&P but ££££££££££ 🙀

Hi John, looking at doing this also recently & replacing the long standard bracket. What size are the nylon screws you used? Thanks Andy
They are M5. I have ordered some M5 x 10mm nylon thumb screws.

6x30 finder bracket. Sold as a laser pointer bracket but just right for a 6x30 RACI finder. Did replace the thumbscrews with nylon screws as the stock ones were too long. Cheaper on eBay if you want to wait.

The baader Steeltrack is more durable than the Moonlite and carries a heavier load but the supplied base is for 200mm dia. and over OTAs.

Telescope Express do a carbon fibre tube upgrade for the Skywatcher 150mm f/5.
Not cheap though. 🙀🙀🙀

Our neighbour just phoned my wife and said people are fighting in our nearest Costco over toilet paper.
Toilet paper of all things...
Ah the non existant shortage of loo rolls. People will beleive anything they read on social media. 🙄

While a lot of ads from one seller does raise suspicions I consider if it’s just random or somone upgrading and getting rid of now uneeded items and raising money for the new gear.

American made astro goods are usualy more expensive in the UK than the US but Chinese stuff is usualy cheaper in the UK than the US.

They don’t seem to fetch as much second hand in th UK as in the US. 🤔

Quote from Baader re their solar film.
”UV/IR cut filter gives additional safety even if the film blocks these dangerous wavelength very good in combination with additonal optics like telescope or binocular.”

Pity this is collection only.

Might be a bit over budget but this setup would be nice.
Same as the Lyra.
