The ES 3mm worked well on the moon last night even though it as a bit hazy. Here’s a smartphone image taken using the 3mm and the StellaMira 80mm f10.. Would be a lot better without the haze. 🙂

Maybe the Nagler Zoom next month. 🤔

A solar filter for my 9x50 finder and a small sheet of self adhesive rubber to line the jaws of my Celestron smartphone adapter.

Now if the sun will just come out so I can try my new white light setup.😁

Wasn’t good seeing tonight but chance to try out my new smartphone holder with my StellaMira 80mm f10.. Not great pics due to the thin cloud / haze and taken from inside the conservatory due to it being a wee bit breezy outside but better than nothing.

I had an Equinox 120 but soon sold it on. Was just disapointing but was probably a poor example. Some of the earlier ones were a bit variable in optical quality.

You should pay attention to some of the very experienced observers on this forum who from real world experience of using these mounts  have found the HEQ5 to be far superior to the AVX in every way. No contest. The AVX is a lighter duty mount and simpy not capable of handling the same load as the HEQ5 PRO.

Just came in. Bit of a waste of time really. Although mostly clear seeing was attrocious. Looking at Venus was like looking through running water. 🙁

Does indeed look like an Equinox 66 but with a better focuser.

An Explore Scientific 52° LER 3mm eyepiece to try with the StellaMira 80mm f/10. If it proves to be usable on the moon will think about getting a Nagler 3-6 zoom. 🤔

A barlow changes the focal length of the eyepiece so a 10mm eyepiece is effectively the same as a 20mm eyepiece with a 2x barlow.  It is mutiplying the magnification of the eyepiece. You could also think of it as dividing the focal length.

This scope is rapidly turning into one of my all time favourite scopes. There is just something about it. It’s one of those scopes that just feels “right”.🙂🙂

Wonder what the Omegon 66ED scope is like? Notice they have just upgraded the focuser.

Found it now. The ad title doesn’t say Nagler which is why my search came up negative.

£280.00 is a bit high though. Wouldn’t want to pay more than £250.00 myself. 

Just took a look but couldn’t find any used Nagler zooms in the UK on Gumtree.

There was an expired ad for one at £280.00 but that ad was posted about two years ago.

Now this is a fast telescope. 😁

I beleive JeremyS has one or had one and thought it was OK for the price but the imcluded table top tripod was rubbish. The version with a dob mount would be more usable but not so usefull as a tiny travel scope.

I bought my 405 head new for £295.00 a few years ago but prices have certainly shot up. 🙀

Yes the 2.5mm is simply too much. When I had a Skymax 127 found 7mm to be of more use as my high mag eyepiece and occasionaly a 5mm for the moon.

Had SkySafari but after trying Luminos deleted SkySafari. Luminos is much nicer to use and is a lot slicker and better looking.

Here’s the results running the Skymax 127 specs through the Televue eyepice calculator. The actual usable aperture of this scope is anout 118mm. It’s not actually a 127mm. 

Max usable mag is 279x

The second column gives the eyepiece focal length and the right hand gives the mag.
