  1. Summer is my most anticipated observing season, between star parties, outreach, and simply staying out Galaxy hunting till morning is what summer is all about, for me. Interesting that some speak as though summer was not an ideal time, it is a wonderful time!.
  2. One advantage of lunar observing is streetlights don’t really matter, and as I store my dob inside the garage it makes for quick setup.
  3. Welcome! no shortage of amazing imagers here, I’m sure you’ll be well on your way soon!
  4. R.I.P Bill, at 90 piloting a plane says a lot. Sort of puts my sad life into perspective, too lazy to get up to cut the grass at only 50.
  5. Certainly we must all enjoy looking at star fields, sometimes I will just move my telescope around with a wide field eyepiece and surprise myself with what runs across my FOV. There are so many rich fields when sweeping across the milky way region, one could get lost in the spectacle, in fact, some of most rewarding sessions are no target list nights. Who am I kidding? i never make a target list, that seems like work.
  6. A big welcome to SGL!
  7. Welcome to SGL!
  8. It has been a year! thanks for asking and I must say that I am delighted with all aspects of the scope. This Lunt 60 is not my first, I did own an old tilt tuned model which was nine years old when I bought it about five years ago. Regarding the pressure tuner, I did have that old tilt tuned model retrofitted to pressure tuned as I was not convinced the tilt tuner was either working, or if it was working it did not affect much change which I found to be anticlimactic. Once I sent it off to lunt for a PS retrofit it came back a totally different scope. Turning the pressure tuner was a joy to use as it would unmistakably reveal different features. If your tilt tuner allows for visible changes in what you are able to see then I would assume it os doing it’s job, my tilt tuner must have been broken. If you’re wondering why I purchased a second Lunt60 telescope in just five years? because Im an amateur astronomer and we are known to do remarkably daft things like selling scopes we enjoy only to regret it later. Clear Skies! and feel free to ask more questions if you like.
  9. Looks like you’re all decked out for some awesome observing sessions!
