I always use guiding, just in case. I never see a correction, not even with strong winds. But I always use the setup automated / unattended and my neighbors have some cats that like to bump against the mount, so I want to be save, the Lodestar can save a sub

Also keep in mind that I don't do widefield like a FSQ-106... Unguided at 1380mm f/5.5 or 2000 f/8 is a bigger challenge than 500mm, but can be done with the DDM60.

Yes, it can be done, that's for sure. My GM2000 produced some nice one-hour subs at FL 1000mm unguided.
