Just trying the free software compared to the (expensive)sky6 and i like it. How do you get it to show all the messier Numbers, cant find the option on any menus.

Hmm not sure.. my version does display the messier No. all the objects i've been seeking anyway. i use it as a day to day star guide and it does all i ask of it

I find it depends how zoomed in I am before I see some of the numbers. In a normal-ish zoom around 66 FOV I can see M3 and M39 but not M51 I have to zoom in a bit before it displays Whirlpool Galaxy or for M106, M106.

Click f4 and the option comes up then slide nubs along then tick that will give you

all and NGC hope this helps

Cheers Doug, Couldn't remember what I had done on my netbook and had a sneaky feelin it showed more. I tried the stars one but didn't think it would be Nebulas.

Try also using HNSKY (Free download) and type in what you are looking for under "Search" button

As already said, sometimes it depends how "zoomed in" you are to the object before the number appears. Furthermore, the number always appears instantaneously when you click on the object. Stellarium is simply the best tool I have encountered up to date to aid in my observations.

I have it on my ipad and use it outdoors, everytime I use it I find a few more features I did not realise it could do. Great piece of free software !!

I had Stellarium for over a year before I got my first scope.It is the sort of thing the net was created for-unlike pop downloads,social noseyparkering,etc.
