... I've been wondering why, when searching for images of an EQ5 I get some that are completely white and some that are black? Is this an age or model thing? I've ordered and expecting/hoping to get one in White as it looks better with my White tube, but curious why some are different.

I think the white versions are the more recent ones. Some of the pics you see might be Celestron CG5's which look identical (apart from 2" diameter tripod legs) but always seem to be in black.

Yes, as posted above it is an age thing. Mine is about 7 years old and is the black version but looking at new ones on dealers websites they all appear to be white now, which has the added bonus of being more visible in the dark.

I thought all the EQ5 mounts were black...and it was the HEQ5 that was white???

Skywatcher changed their colour scheme from Blue with Black fittings to Diamond Black with white fittings in 2009.

I have an HEQ5pro circa 2006 and it's white. So there must have been other differences??

I guess I'll just have to wait until I collect it to find out what colour it is. Stay tuned to my userID I'll post some pictures of it with the OTA as soon as I can get it together.
