MrsR
Well I met up with some members tonight from the East Midlands Stargazers along with a few peeps from my Observatory Course for a little session and saw some fab things but tonight for me it was the M44 that blew me away - courtsey of Baz Senior showing me exactly where it was and through bins it is amazing and a definate must for anyone observing with bins to see. Just stunning and more mind blowing to me as you couldn' see it with the naked eye like you can say the Seven Sisters, so you look through the bins and it just pops up out of nowhere! Beautiful. northernnutter
Couldn't agree more MrsR !!Had first 'proper' observing session with me bins a few nights back and set a challenge to find this cluster. Took ages to find it, being a bit of a noob, but boy was it worth it!! Almost gave up, then, POW, there it was!!Exhilarating and gorgeous!! GeorgeB
I'm of the opinion that the best view of M44 is with binoculars rather than a scope due to it's size. I was looking at it last night with a 32mm EP in my 102mm refractor and it still didn't quite fit in the field of view. The view through the bins won hands down! Hobbes
I know what you mean about M44 - a great sight in Bino's. I also love the double cluster in Perseus as well.
