EQ5 Synscan Pro. The CG5, according to Celestron, has a greater load capacity than the same mount (EQ5) made by Synta.

If youre thinking of getting an 8" and plan to do any imaging in the future, youl need something with more beef than an EQ5 or CG5-GT. 200mm OTAs can be pretty hefty, so an HEQ5 or NEQ6 would be a better buy I reckon.

Don't the HEQ5 and CG5-GT both carry 15Kg?

Our first scope was the C8N GT. Very happy with it, although the CG5 GT is a little noisy when slewing (it is known as the Coffee Grinder). We now have the NEQ6 which is great (and much quieter).

I was under the impression than an HEQ5 was essentially an EQ6, so it should carry more than the CG5. BUT, having done a little research with other threads the HEQ5 does indeed carry 15kg max - the same as a CG5. But in reality, ive found that to get good, reliable guiding (15min+) with the CG5, all of the gubbins (scope, cam, FW etc..) should weigh no more than 5 or 6kg. An 8" tube would be already over that limit.

In light of this, I would go for an NEQ6 then - its the only way to be sure. Problem is, it weighs a ton...lol.
