My first attempt @ DSO imaging (M42, obviously!)

Hi all,

So I final got a few hours of clearish skies this evening and I had my first go at DSO imaging. M42 seemed the obvious place to start.

This one taken using a Nikon D40, prime focus on my C6-NGT. Set to ISO 800 with a 30 second exposure. I'm really pleased with the results considering I've done no processing of the image and the moon was half phase and less that 10 arc mins away...

Also took some 2.5 sec subs so that I can experiment with stacking...
