Does anyone know a good site to see whats on view up there ?

Hi All I am brand new to the hobby and was wondering if there a good site I can go on that will tell me what I can see each night (clouds permitting) and when I can see it time wise...

I have the iphone "sky walk" app which is good for having a search for things once I know what I am looking for but I would like to know whats up there to search for it too...

I also have a planisphere I havent learned to use yet...

Have you tried the freeware planetarium software "Stellarium" ?. It's very good and you can set your location so it's will show "whats up" where you are.

Just downloaded the Stellarion one.

make sure to update stellarium, there's about 8 updates after install.

you will need to tell stellarium where you are long/ lat/ alt.

Perhaps check out the 'monthly guides' on this forum in 'Observing - discussion' and use Stellarium, Skycharts or similar to find the stuff they recommend in the monthly guides.

EDIT - Sorry been awhile since I actually read any of these guides and now realise they probably dont have the info you look for.
