Is this flat ok ?

Hi

took my first flats last night - will use them later when i stack my run in DSS, mean time attached is my flat, is there any way by looking you can tell if its a decent flat ?

Looks much the same as mine! I've found you can only tell if it's any good by doing the stacking process, and seeing if the final image has an even gradient across the frame.

What does the histogram look like? The bump should somewhere near the middle. It is important that NO pixels are over saturated as well.

Your sample looks good, not too bright and not too dark. I can see some vignetting which is good, that is what you want in a flat.

Yes, looks okay to me too but, by heck, your optics are clean! No dust bunnies? I'd be just a tiny bit suspicous about that but it might just be that your stuff really is immaculate.

As has been said, if the histogram peak is about half way (a third to two thirds) then it must be fine.

How do I take may flats, I bought an Elctro Luminesent Panel which I place over the end of the scope

Oh - if I have darks and Flats do i need Bias ?

Yes. Either Bias or dark flats, not both. Bias are easier.
