Sombrero Galaxy - Moved !!

Our local free paper was doing an article about the top astro images as voted by ' a stargazer's poll '.

At No.1 position they had the Sombrero Galaxy. The paper had an excellent large colour image of the galaxy, which it said " lies 28 million miles from Earth ". :nono:

Once the present cloud cover clears you should have no problem seeing the galaxy, as it's obviously recently merged with ours. !!

In second place was the Ant Nebula with the runner up the Eskimo Galaxy.( Colour pics of these as well).

Shame the facts were incorrect as it was a good try by the local paper.

Wonder what would be the SGL Nos 1, 2 and 3. Any takers ?
