Wearing a snake pliskin eye patch

Hi,

I have resorted to wearing an eye patch so i can see with both eyes open, there is some stray light hitting my eye ball, are there any better methods other then hiding in the dark?

I've seen red tinted goggles for skiing. They might be an improvement as they seal and dont allow stray light in.

Try adding a bit of foam to the eye patch to eradicate the stray light. I use one and it's great I put it on before I leave the house to start the dark adaptation in my observing eye and maintaining it if I come back in the house for a brew.

As an alternative you could try an observing hood, try with an old dark towel to cover your head whilst at the eyepiece.

observing hood would help - a black T shirt worn with your head only through works OK too.

I am thinking of making a 'cloth obs' with some washing lines, poles/a frame and black velvet or similar and create a squared off area for observing. this should create a dark area 'immune' from neighbours' lights going on and such.
