Kind of looks like lens flare

it was actually in the sky and it was only taken using a mobile phone camera.

Then it would probably be a sun halo/sun dog. A halo forms by reflecting light off of ice crystals in the atmosphere.

Undoubtedly a sun dog aka mock sun. There is also a small segment of the parhelic circle extending away from the sun. As noted above, this phenomenon is caused by refraction of the sun's light by ice crystals in high clouds.

It was just hanging there in the sky. I really only took the pic to show a friend who is into consipricy stuff in a big way and i wanted to see what he said about it

Sun dog. seen them quite a few times, Sometimes you will get them on both sides of the sun at once.

Yes - a sun dog - there's often 1 on either side of the sun at the same distance, I've seen the phenomenon twice it's always nice to see,
