Hence my reason for plastering the board with it mate, I wouldn't know where to start with finding out or reporting it....

It's on the DSS and Simbad returns, check the coordinates, you'll see it, halo is a bit odd though

Halo is still there at 8nm 1 month on with new optic cleaning.

What's the RA/DEC of the actual star? can you get the astrometry for it? First place to check is SIMBAD, but not so easy without knowing the coordinates - I know you posted HD 15382 (aka HIP 11706) but I can't guess from that.

I'd look at 2MASS so see if the halo appears there.

Using Redshift 4 I have estimated the stars position as 2h 32' 16.5", +60 46' 53.5", hope this helps,

About to process latest images on this star. I took about 3 hours worth of HaLRGB

Fingers crossed. It is NOT a supernova, but the halo looks wierd and might be a planetary nebula........
