First view of a Messier object!

Ok ok no biggy for many but since getting my first 'proper' scope (Lightbridge) I have had no luck with the weather and tonight under light polluted skies found M57, my first object other than a satellite, planet, moon, star or meteor.

off to see if I can get the wirlpool galaxy now.

brilliant stuff! this is still one that makes me gasp whenever I look at it.

if you can, try M11 the wild duck cluster in Scutum - it's really stunning and in southern skies about midnight. Easily seen in my 10x50s but awesome in the dob. In my view as good, possibly even better than M13.

Its all been worth the wait. I might juggle the eyepieces about though, it looked great through the Hyperion 17mm so maybe another at 13mm.

I saw the Swan Nebula with the 12" Dob a few days ago, I used to study it with the 8" - absolutely stunning.

Well done for your first DSO... that 10" dob will "hoover up" some excellent views for you - have fun.
