Ok ok no biggy for many but since getting my first 'proper' scope (Lightbridge) I have had no luck with the weather and tonight under light polluted skies found M57, my first object other than a satellite, planet, moon, star or meteor.

:)

off to see if I can get the wirlpool galaxy now.:)

brilliant stuff! this is still one that makes me gasp whenever I look at it.

if you can, try M11 the wild duck cluster in Scutum - it's really stunning and in southern skies about midnight. Easily seen in my 10x50s but awesome in the dob. In my view as good, possibly even better than M13.
