Mars and Moon

A friend has just sent me a link

and it has pic/information that

on 27th August Mars is going to be as big as the Moon

and near enough side by side

First time in many years apparently

and will not happen again till 2287

This will be Fantastic sight should it happen.

anyone else got any info on this.

Well I Will be ready, maybe this will be the first thing I See

through my telescope,as I Havant had any luck yet.lol

Hmmm...... don't mean to rain on your bonfire lol but I make mars to be setting in the West on the 27th Aug at 10pm just as the Moon is rising in the East? Jupiter and Uranus will be very near the moon at that time however - maybe it's Jupiter you're thinking of?

Do you know its bad enough trying to get your head round this hobby

with all the names/stars/planets/reading stuff like the 6 books I Bought

without some nut making things more difficult for me

sending all the rain and clouds their way

yes you just have to be skeptical when you hear something like that, mars isnt at its best now anyways

dont think any of the solar system planets would ever be as big as the full moon would they? Unless the sun let us go and we drift

Would be an amazing sight though wouldn't it?! Especially for me as I've not seen Mars in any sort of detail yet.

i think the actual story was, that Mars would look as big as full moon in a small telescope. and some one took out the mention of telescope and spread it (it was years ago) then it spread like wildfire and has been since then, every year these days it comes up.

If Mars was so close it appeared the same size as the moon, I'd either be very worried about what the Sun was doing - or dead cos the Earth had been fried lol
