JWST vs Hubble

I just came across this randomly, it shows the size of the new James Webb Space Telescope vs the size of Hubble

Just think of what hubble could see with an ultra deep field, the JWST will go further into the infra-red, seeing further back with a huge aperture :D

The mirror segments are made from highly polished beryllium - that's my understanding. Imaging will also be shifted largely to infra-red, so I would imagine raw images will not be comparable to what we are used to seeing with the HST.

Whatever it comes up with though will be mind-blowing though. New discoveries aplenty are pretty much guaranteed I would have thought.

Launches sometime in 2013 or 2014 I think
