Catseye Collimation Tools Incoming

Yes and No... with the Catseye system you replace the centre spot on your mirror with a triangle. The Catseye Cheshire has a white reflective ring on it so when collimating you look through the Cheshire and you'll be able to see a centre triangle within the white reflective ring. You arrange the centre-triangle so that the three corner points are just in contact with the white reflective ring. Personally I find the visual cues in this much easier to do than using a standard Cheshire.

Apologies for the delay.

We have begun listing them on our website starting with the Catseye ComboSet Pro XLK and XLSK kits which includes the new Infinity XLK Autocollimator (with two viewing pupils) and the Telecat XL combined sight-tube and Cheshire.

The classic red or white centre-triangles that are synonymous with Catseye collimation tools are included and the new 'HotSpots' are incoming so we can also include them free of charge.

We have a number of other Catseye products in stock including the BlackCat and TeleTube. These will be added to our website tomorrow. We shall also restructure our collimation section to make it more easily navigable and will post product details and advice here on SGL in a separate thread.

First Light Optics is the only UK retailer of Catseye collimation tools :D

No, Catseye collimation tools are designed for use with Newtonian telescopes.

A star test is the best method for collimating an SCT, though the Hotech SCA laser collimator can be used to return an SCT to a known point of collimation (see our website for details). Hotech also have a new device that can collimate SCT telescopes but its price makes it of more interest to astro clubs and societies and the industry. We'll post details in another thread.

HTH :)
