Hi everyone on here,

I have been interested in Astronomy for years and over the past couple of years I have saved to buy a 127mm apo refractor (Ascension from Optic Star) on a HEQ5 mount, Canon 1000D camera and last week a new member of Mansfield and Sutton Astronomical Society! Things couldn't be better.

It certainly encouraging to see others attempting astrophotos for the first time and most definitely looking forward to chatting with you guys in the future for hints, tips, advice etc!

Welcome to SGL Brendan, and by all means ask as many questions as you like.

That scope sounds good, and coupled with your 1000D, will be a formidable imaging system. Did you get the HEQ5 Pro Synscan Mount ?

Joining the Astro Society is a good move, as plenty of help and hands on experience will be available to you.

Good luck with your imaging, and enjoy the forum.
