Galaxies at 500mm

Recommended Posts

Sorry Themos - I liked the title to your posting, so "adapted" it :)

Attached is a 500mm image (stack of 17/20 x 2min exposures) taken through a Megrez 80 using a Canon 500D. Taken on a slightly hazy evening last Saturday. The Moon was surprisingly bright and so this area was the darkest in the sky.

I hope you like it.

Tom

I think the halo are partly a function of the fact that the 'scope is not a true apo, only "semi" apo.

The blobbyness is partly poor tracking and partly star bloat. I need to try to reduce this.

Thanks for looking and feeding back - it's the only way I will ever improve my imaging.

Tom
