gsjag
Took this image of Saturn when I first got my 'scope (April 06). Disapointed but then it's just a single image taken afocally using a Meade ETX 125 and Canon G2. Looking forward to trying some stacking as others get some stunning results

geppetto
Don't be disappointed...Taking astro images is a long learning curve that we are allclimbing.Afocal imaging is one of the most difficult ways to image andto get a great single shot image is very demanding. You got some detail with that one, you can see the gaps between the ringsand the planet and the exposure is not too far out.Get some more practice in when Saturn returns and keep posting your results.Good luck with it and have fun
GordonCopestake
Nowt wrong with that for a first go! I can clearly see the rings and sky between the disc of the planet and the inner rings
FLO
I wouldn't beat yourself up over that one Gary; its really not that bad Particularly when you consider that although the ETX125 is equipped for imaging, it's not its forte.
Greg
Not bad Gary...As has already been said don't beat youself up it's a good start, you should have seen my first Saturn pic The guys on here were very kind :shock:Keep going and don't forget to post em on here.Greg
gsjag
Thanks for your feedback guys. I must admit that f1cameras who I brought the scope from, did say that it wasn't an ideal one for imaging and at the time, that didn't matter as I didn't think I'd be interested in doing any, just wanted to star gaze. You know what its like though, you kind of get bitten by the bug... Thanks for your encouragement, I'll keep snapping!

gsjag
Thanks Moonhunter. I have to say that the real image was tiny and this version of it is much enlarged, hence the focus is soft whereas it looked crystal clear through the scope. I though that if I posted the real think, no one would be able to see it, but anyway, here it is!Thanks again Gary

geppetto
Dont know if you have a laptop but if you have, treat yourselfsometime to a Philips webcam and an eyepiece adapter.Put that in the ETX preferably with a barlow, point at Saturn and fire away a few dozenframes.Stack those in Registax and prepare to have your socks blown off
