Hi all,

I'm fairly new at watching the night skys. It all started with buying a Celestron Firstscope for my young daughter, but soon found out it was me that was actualy interested. Nice little scope but as I found out pretty quick it was a bit limited. So recently I bought (myself this time) a Skywatcher Explorer 130P SupaTrak. Too much moonlight on first night to appreciated DSO's. I'm now awaiting a dark night.:)

Welcome to the forum. You got a week or so to plan lots of deep space objects to hunt once the moon starts to fade. I started with a 130P telescope too. You've picked a great time of year to get started, as it's the best time to look at the Orion nebula (M42), which I remember being an amazing sight in my 130.
