Wheels for a 12" Dobsonian

Hi,

What is the best way of attaching wheels to a 12" Skywatcher Dobsonian? I have never done a DIY upgrade before there doesn't seem to be any pre-made upgrades.

1 of 2 ways mate, Either make a dolly that has wheels onto which you can pop your scope when you need to wheel it about and then remove it and put it on stable ground when in use.

Or you could fit wheels to the base of the dob, may require taking the base off first!! but make sure you have locking wheels and preferably the rubber type

Aldi are doing a small sack truck shortly, one of those could be modified, perhaps...........

Places like Screwfix direct sell sets of four locking wheels for around £20-30

Best castors are the twin wheel type although they can be hard to find, but are much more stable than the single wheel type and roll easier as the load is spread over twice as many wheels. I got mine from here. They also do a 4 screw type mounting as well as a single bolt type.
