Space Shuttle Atlantis Launch

Only 5 more Shuttle launches expected. Very fortunate to be at the Kennedy Space Centre on Monday 16th November for the start of the Atlantis mission to the ISS. Taken from the Rocket Garden with a Canon EOS 350D and Sigma 200mm lens (hand-held).

What a wonderful sight that is Mike.

A great picture, and one to treasure. These sights will soon be no longer seen as the Shuttle fleet are stood down after completion of the ISS. These superb engineering marvels have done their work most efficiently. Of course we all lament the loss of Challenger, and Columbia. Very sad episodes in what has been an exciting period in Space engineering.

I was lucky enough to see the last shuttle pass over very quickly with the orange/red glow of the main fuel tank below it here from Norwich.

To actually be there and not just see it, but to hear and feel it - WOW - you lucky sod!

Wow I would love to see a shuttle take off!! I will get there one day!! Not for a shuttle I guess, but it's my ambition to see something take off from there at least!
