Milkyway as captured with a 15mm f2.8

hi guys i captured the following 2 images with a sigma 15mm f2.8 lense on a canon 1000d.

exposure is of around 45 seconds.the weather was not that clear although the milkyway trail was very faintly visible to the naked eye

The second pic looks like something from a World-War-1 battlefront. Will governments ever entertain the wisdom of those who could easily redesign street-lights to be more efficient and accurate?

If only. the thing is, we know the eye won't see anything like what the camera has. To the naked eye, that scene would be almost devoid of stars. Drowned out by the LP.
