A lot will depend on the capabilities of the camera. I tend to try and keep the gain and gamma as low as possible, get over 50% gain and the image starts to get a blue cast and odd lines showing up.

Hi. Thanks for all that .At the top of Astro CApture you

have got ,TYPE -Light-Dark-Bias-& Flat .What does this

mean. The web cam i am using is a moded mono 840k

The scope is the Vixen 102mm .This Astro Capture is

a lot easer to use than K3CCD Tools.

Light - is the image data you're capturing

Dark - is to remove noise and dark current

Bias - is to remove the bias noise of the chip

Flat helps to remove vignetting, dust in the optical train etc.

For the moon, I've only ever used lights, you're running at a high frame rate, and fast shutter, so I don't think the effects that you're compensating for have much bearing on the resulting image (I could be wrong :icon_rolleyes:..) The Dark's, Bias and Flats are used in Long Exposure imaging, which wxAstroCapture is also capable of.

Steve, Sorry I can't help on LX settings on wxAstroCapture, I've never done it. I use my SLR for LX captures... However, have a look here for some info (from the DeepSkyStacker help) on the various frame types. That and on here is where I got my info from for the various frame types and how to take them, for my SLR anyway...
