Jamie
Hi Darren the difference is the sturdiness /polar scope/tripod/weight limit.Have a look at these and see the difference for your self.EQ5 / HEQ5 - http://www.skywatchertelescope.net/ProductsMO.html#EQ5

Ant
Also, One lead to the handset instead of three.Runs on 12v instead if 6v.I've owned both and would never suggest buying the EQ5 if you could afford the HEQ5. Don't get me wrong I thought the EQ5 was great - and it did serve me very well till I bought the HEQ5. But the HEQ5 is just so much better.Ant
GazOC
Darren,The HEQ5 is a bit misnamed it has more in common with the EQ6 than the EQ5. I've got the same refractor as you, do you find it a bit shaky on the EQ5?HEQ5's pop up secondhand quite regulary for £300-£400, you'd get around £150 for you EQ5.... What you don't want to do is buy motors, a new tripod etc for your EQ5 and then decide you wanted a HEQ5 all along.Gaz
