The new large spot from the fiesta mobile observatory 7.7.2023

Nice to get an early opportunity of capturing new large spot from the Ford Fiesta mobile observatory. Especially with the weather forecast.

The seeing was pretty decent, despite the gusty wind bouncing the scope around on the EQ3-2 mount.  Very pleased to see some nice details in the Penumbra given the position of the spot so close to the limb.

The full disc was usual "drift method" at the native focal length, the close ups were with a x3 Barlow.

120mm Evostar, Lunt wedge, Asi174mm and X3 Televue Barlow.

Excellent images Pete, can you explain how you achieve full disk images with your setup?

I use the full from size which easily covers the disc on the longer side of the chip, then i allow the disc to drift across the shorter axis to achieve the full disc.

During stacking you have to select allow expanded image in AS3 to allow the image to cover the full disc.

This doesn't always work though.
