Saturn with the ATIK camera this time

After my efforts with the Toucam on the 16th, there have been clear skies but not great seeing. Not complaining about the weather though, those pesky clouds can stay away a bit longer.

Thought I would repeat the exercise with my ATIK long exposure webcam. Direct comparisons are impossible of course, but in this case I prefer the Toucam image although generally the ATIK seems to perform better on planets.

This was the best of about 2000 frames taken on the night of the 20th March. Europa 250mm F4.8, 4 x Imagemate, ATIK IR filter.

That's a nice big Image Geoff, and subtley detailed too.

Very nice mate. I think, although not from personal experience, that both the Toucam, and the Atik are very capable planetary cameras.

Tony

From what I remember it was brightened up in processing.

The image was quite noisy and I couldn't really do anything with the wavelets in Registax.

As I said earlier, I prefer my previous image taken with the Toucam, but I think seeing was not as good as a few nights before.

You can't really win with this game.
