Lets try this again.  This image looks good on my processing computer in Pixinsight.  My goal was to accentuate the Ha.

FSQ 106 with .6x reducer and ASI 1600--about24 hours of data.

Impressive Ha! But M78 is somewhat overwhelmed by comparison?

Visually, I can see M78 under dark skies but not a trace of the Loop, so the proportions feel a bit strange, but then night-adapted eyes aren't sensitive to Ha but cameras are!

The parts of M78 that you can see in a telescope  Are the bright patches, which  are actually brighter than the Ha in this image.

however, the image is flawed. Note the absence of stars in the Ha region. The reason that the dimmer portions of M78 are so dim, is because of noise.

Now that is a seriously thick ribbon of Ha there - I'd say you've definitely succeeded in accentuating it. I may well copy your framing if/when I shoot for myself 😁

Maybe too much so!  Still working on it

2nd version looks the bees knees!

Thanks. You either have the same mad spell checker on your phone as me, or I should get out more🤔🙂
