First go at a galaxy….🤔

Not sure about this one, at f5.3, I don’t think my scope is up to it, 140 x 2 min subs, on M81 & M82,  QHY268c, heavily cropped, minimal processing, calibrated in APP, and a bit of tweaking in affinity photo….

Quite surprised how much more noisy it is compared to an image of a nebula with the same integration time…

"heavily cropped, minimal processing," was the moon lurking in a corner or it was not a clear sky as wanted, this is my own common issue, " I do see the stars, but are they visible enough"

Looks pretty good to me. Sharp galaxies and nice detail even if the background is a bit noisy, but i dont think it detracts from the image. If you want to denoise the background, the best way would probably be to just shoot more subs as its not a super long integration yet?

I shoot at a similar resolution as you, but with 5x the aperture area as your scope (assuming its the FSQ85?) and still think that my background is weak at this kind of integration time, so must be with your scope as well. Maybe it looks worse because there is a lot of background in this image and with nebula images there isn't nearly as much?

Yes, I think you are correct, it is the FSQ85, I was going to crop it more, but it just looked worse noise wise, but the galaxy did look better, well M81 anyway…

Thanks for you comments….👍🏼
