geppetto
The lunar "X" feature was predicted to appear last night on the terminatorso set up the DOB with Nikon 5400 afocal 40mm eyepiece to hide in wait Sadly the clouds rolled in (cant be greedy ) so had to shoot it througha fairly thick covering of mist.Still, I got it for my image library all be it a bit hazy
geppetto
this is a new one on meTo be honest, it was to me until a guy mentioned it on another forum. It occurs near to the crater Werner and on a particular day of the month at a particular time, the sunlight catches the tops of some craters right on the terminator and lights up an "X" formation. Its a lovely sight through the eyepiece as the "X" seems to hang out in space on the very edge ofthe terminator 8)Shame the clouds misted up my image but there's next time

lunator
PhilGreat image mate. I didn't know about the Lunar X. I was photoing the Moon a bit last night but I think I was taking images too far South. Let us know when the next appearance is. CheersIan
