PHD2 error of RA calibration failed star did not move enough

Recommended Posts

Im just setting up phd 2 on a AZEQ  5 mount with a skywatcher EVO guide 50ED using pulse guild.  I have both RA & DEC settings at .90. Installed a new usb cable from mount to powered usb hub. When i'm in phd2 and go to manual guide to see if the mount is moving and use the highest ms of 5000 and do the east west for RA and have the mount set in sidereal for track rate the mount position only  changes  .05.  When i test the north/south for Dec. I stop the track rate and does the manual guide the dec. moves .80.  I have checked the balance on my scope also.  All equipment is apx. 1 year 3 months old. with very little use.

Thanks for any help.

No Chelsea Alabama

I assume that you have changed the coordindates for privacy, those coordinates are near Little Rock Arkansas. The centre of Chelsea Alabama is 86 38 W, 33 20 N

Griffin is correct, a HFD of 1.0 pixel in the Star Profile means you were locked onto a single hot pixel instead of a star.

Your location error, real or not, won't hinder you at this stage of finding if the mount is moving under PHD2.

Michael

ok, thanks. I will check on that in the user manual on how to make corrections.

Your screenshots indicated you have a Dark Library for the Guidecam - good

So PHD2 shouldn't select a hot pixel.

Unless you selected the star ?

Don't manually select a guide star, let PHD2 do that for you.

Also use PHD2 MultiStar Guiding.
