Lunar images, including Hortensius domes from 13 Jan 2022

Finally able to get a decent session under the stars. Hopefully the weather is going to be a little better in the coming months.

The usual set up C9.25, asi290mm, 642 filter.  Sinus Iridum, Gassendi, Corpernicus and the Hortensius domes. The conditions were pretty decent as well

Particularly pleased to capture Hortensius domes in the last image, well at least 3 of them 🙂

They were capture size, i should have mentioned i used a X1.8 Barlow as well. Definitely a bit over the top in terms of resolution.

I think going forward i should be using my 174mm, rather than the 290mm, just for the Global shutter ahead of the rolling shutter. With either native FL, or a x2  x3 Barlow used it will give me more flexibility.

I actually like OTT. As long as noise doesnt dominate. Always wanted to try a 174. Its supposed to be one of the best lunar cameras. I chose the 178 mm purely because i needed a larger chip for building mosaics. Less important if anyone just wants smaller close ups of course. Sounds like a good plan with the 174 Pete

I am fortunate enough to be able to keep it out side in a box, which i store in my home observatory.

That makes sense Pete. Thanks. I think I will have to try similar. Cool down seems an issue for me this time of year.
