Processing with dual-band filter OSC eg NBZ NBX

AstroPixel Processor gives options to extract Ha and Oiii, as well as to do a colour version or mono version of both wavelengths at the same time.

What way is everyone else approaching this?

This is what APP throws out:

Ha

Oiii

Both / Mono

Both / Colour

My limited amount of imaging with a OSC and NBZ has used the both/colour option, but I confess that was because I didn’t know about the other options in APP. I prefer to do the onward processing in StarTools, composing an image from the separate NB channels, so I will certainly use those options in the future.

Hi Adam, I found I got my best results by extracting ha and oiii, processing separately and combining as you would with a mono camera.

I use L-eNhance. I've never used the "both mono" . Not sure I see what value there is in it. I have tried the "both colour" but find it to be pretty uninspiring.

 

I've  often used the extract Ha and extract Oiii then recombined as HOO  or  sometimes mixed some Ha with the O.

The APP blurb says the extract algorithms produce better less noisy mono images than stacking as normal then pulling out the channels. I have found that to be the case. Most of the time!
