Signatures on your images

Lots of people put their signatures on the photos they take like "John Smith Astronomy" or initials or a logo or whatever.  Is there a certain program that creates that for you and inserts it onto pics or is it a case of typing something out in Photoshop and merging it onto your pics every time?

Plus 1 for what @wxsatuser says you can add text to your image or create a signature seperatly on a transparent background and save it for further use and then paste into your image which is what I do.

As @AstroNebulee suggests, I created a signature as a layer in Photoshop on a transparent background and saved it as a Photoshop file so I can add it to an image once I've finished processing.

Some software also has a Watermark tool you can use to do the same thing.

I use Photoshop, and by far the best way to add my signature is by storing it as a Brush Preset.

There are many benefits to this method; you don't have to import the signature each time, you get all the benefits of a 'brush' (colour, resize, etc) and it can be used in automation, such as bulk applying signatures at once. 

I created a video on how to create signatures in Photoshop for this very reason. Posting here in case it helps others 👍

If you use Pixinsight, it has a very underused feature called annotate image, which I initially thought was to do with annotating an image after plate solving, but no it allows you to overlay very easily a signature
