Flying High!

Around the turn of the year I had an accident with my Solarview50 Ha telescope which detached the etalon thereby needing repair in the Isle of Man.  They had an awful time fixing it - the etalon plates just would not go back together.  Until they tried replacement spacers - most unusual for them to be damaged, and then the magic happened 😁  I got the 'scope back yesterday, just in time for the partial eclipse tomorrow, (guaranteeing full cloud cover!), but no decent clear spells.  Today a bit better, and some definite action so I decided to go for an image with my GPCAM3.  and when I stretched things, I found what might be a coronal mass ejection, certainly clouds of glowing gas thrown a huge distance - the furthest section is probably at least 200,000 miles out.  Lucky strike!   This image is half size - full size will be on my web site by tomorrow.

Cheers,

Peter

Superb image :icon_salut:

See https://www.spaceweather.com/ AR2831 sent out a massive plasma plume, you seem to to have captured it.

Many thanks for that - good to have the details.  Definitely the same outburst, my image was taken just 8 minutes after the NASA one.   Slightly different orientation.  Of course I didn't know about it!  Just lucky.  A pity my sky was slightly hazy, otherwise I might have picked up more of the plume.  But very happy with what I got 😀

Cheers,

Peter
