This may scare you to death. Amateur Astro photography may become very difficult in the near future

Do you realize how many galaxies still are visible in a clear spot in the sky with the size of a grain of sand held at arms length?

The size of the dots representing the satellites in animations like this are way bigger than actual size and are designed to shock.

If you look at similar animations of planes in the air they too give the impression that no clear sky is visible through the fog of planes.

That said, it is clear that visual astronomers will regularly see satellites pass through their field of view and astro photographers will have to remove satellite trails in their workflow; neither of which, IMHO, make a material difference to the wonderous world of amateur astronomy.

I think the point of the animation is to demonstrate the difference between 2017 and 2029…..I don’t think it’s suggesting that you won’t be able to see any sky

Btw, being an astronaut always was a dangerous job. But how on earth will NASA or SpaceX be able to send anyone to Mars, when they are at risk of the launch vehicle being knocked out by a satellite?

The good thing of course, is that we won’t be attacked by aliens, because they will think we have a defence shield in place.
