Hi Taff, I'm in the process of setting up my mount (Celestron CG-5 with motors) with the Shoestring autoguide kit. From what I've discovered you should be able to get up to 4/5 min guided, with the standard motors. The kit that they sell looks very good quality, http://www.opticstar.com/Run/Astronomy/Astro-Accessories-Imagers-Shoestring.asp?s=84253138-a73f-4609-93ba-eb6da2550e0&p=0_10_5_0_5_5.

If you coppy the above link and paste it into the address bar, it shows you the main part of the modification. All the informatin that you require is available on Shoestrings home web site.

If you take alook at Mel Bartel's website, http://www.bbastrodesigns.com/BBAstroDesigns.html#Computer_Operated_Telescopes you can infact have ful GOTO capabilities with motors you have installed on your mount already. Mel's circuit uses a Stepper Motor driver circuit to drive the motors connected to a PC. The standard Synta motors are Bi-Polar, so a slightly different circuit is required to drive them, but it is possible.
