Adapter for EQ6

Hi , i need to buy a steel tripod , unfortunately most places are out of stock , but i have located an EQ6 tripod which i'm keen to buy . The reason i want the tripod is to mount an AZ5 and or my AZ-Gti ... so , now into the question ... i have an Astro Essentials 3/8" Photo Adapter for HEQ5 / AZ5 Tripod but ... will it fit an EQ6 tripod?

No the HEQ5 adaptor won’t fit an EQ6 tripod. 

You could get an adaptor though that would allow it to fit.

Thanks for the speedy response , John . i really didn't think there would be a difference ... i've just looked on the FLO website and put the criteria in and it came up with the same adapter , so i'm a bit confused

The HEQ5 has an M10 centre bolt and the EQ6 has an M12 bolt plus the recess in the top of the tripods are slightly different diameters and depths.

It was this that i saw on FLO ... it just seemed exactly the same as i have already .. but as you say the thread size is different

I still have one I listed a while ago on SGL sitting in the garage. Did not sell as I really don't want to post/courier.

If you are interested and lockdown rules allow I can hold it for you till you are OK to collect, for the same price I listed it here - I'm over in Stevenage.

Hi Steve I can’t believe my bad luck ..  I have just bought a 3/8” one from widescreen centre !!! Ok I would have had to get an adapter with yours but I could have changed my EQ5 adapter for that .. I’m gutted ! That’s £50  extra I have just paid ... makes it worse that you are so close to me too ... aaarrrgh ! 

Reckon you should re-post it for sale though  Stevie ... im sure you would get a sale

I know that "johninderby" is correct because I have done it with my EQ5 mount on a EQ6tripod.

Sorry,  I've been culling down my tripods so I can cover an EQ6, EQ5 and 3/8 on my Berlebach tripod - now fitted with EQ6 top as standard. So I have the orange geoptic eq6-eq5 adapter and an eq5 to 3/8 adapter to cover all bases. 🤭 We need to get a local johninderby!! The 3/8 adapter needed a bit of tweaking to fit in the geoptik adapter though it had fitted the eq5 berlebach head fine.

I'll re-list the tripod when I've gathered all my other unused gear for testing, cleaning and pricing.
