I recently downloaded a program called What's Up from this website: http://www.ricksastro.com/ . It gives you a list of what is in the sky (galaxies, nebulae, clusters) according to your position, hours of observing and other parametes that you set. It gives both Alt-az and Equatorial coordinates, and the Alt-az coordinates change in real time. This could be very useful for planning an evening.

Thanks for the link. Have downloaded it. You can copy to the clipboard then paste it in a spreadsheet. Also, if you double click on a planetary object it provides a google search for images of that object.

It does everything and controls your GOTO as well as Canon cameras!

Why do I need to go your way when all I want to do is observe and find the objects myself?

A good basic program which does what it says; AP is a lot more sophisicated and can be integrated with Carte Du Ceil, use the USNO (18 mag data), control telescopes etc etc. Like comparing Notepad to Word.
