Baby EQ6-R Pro

Hi

I've currently got 2 scopes, 275mm focal length 61mm refactor and 8" 1000mm reflector. I've got an EQ6 R pro that I've been using with both scopes. I'd like to get a second mount for the small refactor, giving the option of running 2 setups (using stellarmate / Astroberry to control the rig). I'd also like something lighter to get more portable (not back pack portable, but star party portable). I've seen the Celestron AVX, but having to use the hand controller for initial setup each session sounds frustrating. Any suggestions for mounts people have had good sessions with for smaller refractors?

An iOptron CEM25P (discontinued) or the incoming CEM26 will match the EQ6R for performance. I've probably overloaded mine with weight but it guides like a champ.

I’m in the same position with my old 3rd hand eq6 that still tracks great but is just too heavy to be mobile (in my opinion) been looking at the Gem28 but not cheap with an eq6 equivalent tripod.

The avx will be be great for the frac but look at Ioptron versions, so much better than the Celestron brand..

Az-eq5 is another option, the one i had was only marginally behind my EQ6-R in terms of guided performance. The new ioptron mounts do look to be competitivley priced; I'm certianly keen to see how they perform.

With the avx you don't need to star align every time you setup, you can save the star alignment if you park and hibernate...my personal opinion is that the ioptron are far more advanced
