Heart Neb Noise Issue

Hello All,

Well yesterday was the first time out for a while with some new improvements :)

  • Modded DSLR (Canon 600d)
  • Sorted out the Dec and RA balance issue
  • EQ mod installed and running
  • New guide camera

Overall it was ok...managed to get plate solving to work (once) , the new guide cam took ages to get to focus (lots of adapters for that) but got it working...guiding was MUCH improved on the HEQ5 (not tuned or modded) so managed to get this shot below...is the noise in that photo hot pixels? I didn't take darks for this but dithered instead.

Overall I took 20 flats (first time), 60 bias and 31 lights at 4min exposure.

TBH it is by FAR the best photo I have taken and processed and massively massively happy...but always room for improvement :)

Hi

Lovely shot. The dither has worked well.

The impression of noise is the way the site displays images. Zoom in to full size and you'll see that what looks like noise at forum-cropped size shows as stars full size; nice.

So that you don't need to process so much, just take more light frames.

A really nice image. I would be pleased with that.

Thank you...by far my best shot with some useful data and actually managed to process it through a tutorial properly :) the evening was only supposed to be testing gear but it was just too clear not to continue trying to grab some data.
