Tail turning green?

Recommended Posts

It might be my processing but the tail looks as if it now has a green hue to me. I managed to get a decent run of images for this on the 20th which is 65 15 second exposures wide open at f2,ISO400,135mm, on the star adventurer.I have stretched it as far as I dare :) or perhaps too much. By the time I finished imaging it was only 13/14° above the horizon.

Not sure if it is or not, but many people have imaged green in the coma (as you have), so could be a trace in the tail.

Nice image anyway.

Thanks carol, I can only see it in the back end of the tail, it’s more pronounced on my pc than iPad.

There's been a definite green edge to the coma in recent days, I've photographed it as have many others. I think that's ionised cyanogen?

Thanks for the info. I’ve noticed quite a few images with green in and around the comet head but I must admit I hadn’t noticed any green in any tails, but that’s probably just me being unobservant. :)

The Swan bands in the green are becoming more obvious, the yellow sodium emission is reducing.

Many thanks, I’ve just googled it as well. :)
